This week, I feel like I have answered my burning question in research but gave me a bigger understanding when I sorted it onto my graphic organiser. I have finished my research with 10 sources (two are on one page) and have sorted my information into my graphic organiser. I have finished my report about social media with a lot of information on social media. I want to present my exhibition with cardboard versions of social media application icons with a hologram that shows a fake social media page. I am feeling quite confident with exhibition and I am up-to date with work. I am planning to complete my fake social media page over the holidays and start on my action. I am currently thinking of a plug-in that prevents people being cyber bullied and a safer chat and discussion for social media. Skills Time Management – I have not been too distracted and have been focused. Research – I have researched and sorted my findings accurately. Thinking – I thought carefully of what my graphic organiser was going to be. Attitudes Respect – I took care of my journal and did not ruin it. Confidence – I have been confident about exhibition AJ This week we have begun our sorting out faze. We have looked through our research notes that all of us have finished and created a graphic organiser containing all of the notes we are using for writing our report. By Friday this week I have finished the report I was assigned to and I have a brief idea of what I'm presenting for my final piece. I am creating a model of DNA 1 meter high on a Lego stand. I will color coordinate parts of it and have cards that contains of facts about that piece. My goal for next term is to have the recourses to build my modal. At the moment, I have everything under control and I feel very confident with my report. Attitueds that I have used would be: Independence-I have succeeded on my own Commitment-I never gave up and stuck to my plan Enthusiasm- I was excited about finishing my report Skills I have used would be: Self-management-I never went off task Thinking-It was hard thinking up a report Social-I helped others write their report Right now DNA is new so there is not much a 10 year old can do to help us from diseases and improve our future. James T This Is Another Reflection! My burning question has, after 5 weeks, finally been answered. Now I am finishing of my sorting out so that I can do my report on the weekend. So far, I feel like I can complete my sorting out after school in one hour and am sure that I can easily complete my report in two days. I have found out that gaming can make people smarter and cause your reward system to release a chemical called dopamine, making you feel happy and is what can cause addiction. Oliver M

Today, the Year 5s looked at the Year 10 Personal Project at the Dickinson Centre. The projects really showed what is expected within Exhibition. We saw the Year 10s make sculptures, furniture, contraptions and many other amazing ideas. Their reports had what learner profile, skills and attributes they used while also showing the process of developing their piece . They have explained what the purpose was of the project so we all can take action. The Year 5s are hopefully inspired by the work which will give them an idea of how our final piece should look like. By Nicholas, Digby, AJ and Oliver M The students met with their mentors today to discuss what has been achieved to date and where what is coming on the schedule. Each of the groups have been assigned to a specific mentor who they will meet with every Wednesday to 'check-in' and discuss any difficulties or new learning that has taken place.
This week has been about finding new sources of information. Mr Norman lead the classes through a session in the Junior/Middle School library on how the students could locate books or accredited online resources through their searches on the library system. The discussion centered around KEY WORDS and phrases. Some of the boys have received books this week delivered to their class.
We had some help from Mr Norman to organize our ideas around our BURNING QUESTIONS. It has been quite an in-depth process to get to this point where we have refined, reworded and reorganized our ideas to come to our final question. Here are some of the BURNING QUESTIONS we have decided upon:
